Our foireann sinsear (senior team) continued their championship campaign last night at Tannaghmore Gardens, when they hosted Doire Núis.
Seán Ó Treasaigh started the game brightly with Dylan Mallon opening the scoring i ndiaidh 15 soicind (after 15 seconds) and Anthony Carville adding another just moments later, but Derrynoose soon got into their stride. Mid way through an chéad leath (the first half), the score was 0-8 to 0-3 in favour of the cuairteoirí (visitors) and it’s then that they really stamped their authority on the game with two cúil (goals) within minutes.
While Tam McKavanagh got the opening cúilín (point) of the second period, Derrynoose continued their first half form putting Seán Treacys under immense pressure. Some good work from our cosaint (defence) kept Derrynoose’s second half tally lower than the first half score, but they were by far the stronger side and ran out convincing winners.
Next Tuesday will see the seniors travel to current county senior champions Coillidh Chanannáin (Middletown) before the final game of the round robin series on Tuesday 19 Lúnasa (August) at home to Killeavy.
Thanks as ever to Seán Ó Maoilsté for keeping track of everything!
